BEYOND WHAT IT SEEMS

INTRODUCTION

Yesterday, which happened to be the eve of Christmas, I had the opportunity to go round town to ‘fulfill all righteousness’. As I passed through the major markets, I almost was convinced that most people were chased out of their house since the crowd I saw was enormous. The ATM stand of all ‘major’ banks were clad with a long queue of people. Everybody was on the move as they PREPARED for CHRISTMAS.

THE SECOND CHANCE NOVEL—TSCN (1)

Tragedy struck on me which triggered my dad to quickly run into his room to get his car key—but he couldn’t find it even though it was on top of the table in his well furnished room, after a fruitless search, he later saw it— as my mum and siblings shouted my name like basic three students would pronounce a new word after their English teacher. My dad which was just wearing a short and a singlet— since he was just reading THE NATION newspaper, in front of the TV which was turned to CHANNELS STATION, after a hectic day at work— paced out of the house running towards the garage as he pressed the unlock button of his car key which opened his VENZA TOYOTA WAGON—with plate number ENUGU, AGG11-PTN.

CORRUPTION SERIES 2: CORRUPTION IN THE EDUCATIONAL SECTOR

Going through my daily routine of reading through various newspapers, I stumbled into a powerful HEADLINE. Just the headline of the article reminded me of an article of mine I didn’t paste last month and just before I share what I just read. Let’s take a short stroll into an event that happened last month.

CELEBRATING MINISTER LAWRENCE (1)

I have always being a lover of MUSIC because it has being the major source of my INSPIRATION. I have passionately followed James Moss, Jessica Reedy, Tye Tribbett, Mali Music, Frank Edward, Kirk Franklin,Rev Victor Atenega, Tim Godfrey,  Deitrick Haddon, Lawrence Flowers and a host of others but few months back, precisely in the month of January, I encountered a young singer from Delta state that forced his way into my ‘MUSICAL HALL OF FAME’ through his skillfulness. I hardly envy people’s talent but I was tempted to envy his—and to be candid with you, I fell into the temptation… Lol. How did all this start? Travel with me to the ‘Genesis’ of our meeting.

POJOMATICS NEW MONTH MESSSAGE: THINK BIG AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

Wow! Can you imagine? We are in a new month. I remember, as if it were yesterday, when I said Happy New Year to my Friends, Family and Fans and just like a twinkle of an eye, the year has paced faster than Usain Bolt. God has being faithful, even though we are not where we have envisioned to be, we are not where we used to be. He has kept us through January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October and now we are in the month of November. I want you to remember that some people started this year with you but they are not alive to see this day. THERE ARE ENOUGH REASONS FOR YOU TO GIVE THANKS TO GOD. I advice you take out time today, and in the remaining days of the year,  to give God quality worship for thus far He has brought you.

THE MARKET OF LIFE (2): INCREASE YOUR S.O.U.R

“Increase your S.O.U.R
So that you can SOAR
If you neglect taking action now
Things will go SOUR”    — POJOMATICS WEBS

Earlier last week, I was at work when I got an Urgent call from my Mum to help her go to the market, precisely Igbudu market, to get her some items. It was already 04:45pm and if you live in Warri, you should know what that means and if you don’t know what that means, I will help you:  Igbudu market is one of the most popular markets in the oil city where you can find almost any item that comes to mind and it closes officially at around 05:30pm.

TURNING ON THE LIGHT NINE YEARS LATER: CELEBRATING GOD’S GENERAL

THE DARKEST DAY OF MY LIFE

OCTOBER 22nd has always been the darkest day of my life. It carried an event I never thought of having, it stole one of the strongest currencies I ever had in life, a currency I needed planned to lose so soon in my life. It punctured the balloon of joy which was in an excited state and dragged it to a ground state.

REMAINING RELEVANT IN CHANGING TIMES SERIES—RERICTS1

“The world doesn’t remember your past excellence, they are simply interested in your current relevance”—POJOMATICS

I can only imagine how my Beloved Father, Mr. Jeremiah E. Okotie, felt on the 02nd of June 2004 when he entered a shop in Lagos to buy a pair of NOKIA 1100. I guess he was so excited as the product he asked for was brought to him. I could feel the joy he felt after paying #23,800 for two ‘powerful’ phones.

Few days later, my Dad stormed Warri and journeyed to his residential address at 13 Okandeji Street, Somewhere in Warri-South Local Government Area. My Mum, DMSEJO, and I were so excited to see my Dad after months of not seeing him due to his job in Lagos. Just before the smiles that came due to his arrival faded off our faces, Dad gave us a shocking surprise, he brought out two small cartoons that I have never seen before and as I tried to look at the cartoon, I saw the words, NOKIA 1100, and a hand of a man reaching to hold that of a little Child.  Dad held one of the Cartoons and passed the other to his wife and that was the fuel that ignited Mum’s happiness. She was so excited like a blind man who received his sight. Why on earth will she be excited? I guess it was worth being excited, to be the first woman to owe such an expensive phone in the area.

Yesterday, as I displayed the photo of Nokia 1100 on my various social media platforms, most of my friends remembered ‘the good old days’ of Space Impact. Anyways, twelve years down the line, Nokia 1100 doesn’t interests anybody. I guess if you are offered the phone now, you would be tempted to slap the person. Why? Because the phone has lost its relevance.

Dear reader, take a critical look at your humble self. Are you a business man or a student? Are you currently at the top of your field or you are ‘just there’. What does the future hold for you? Five years from now, are you going to be relevant in your field or you would be dumped in a bin where ‘good old days memory are kept’? Would you be replace by a more productive and creative individual or will you be replaced by a Robot?

REMAINING RELEVANT IN CHANGING TIMES IS A DELIBERATE ACT OF A MAN TO DEVELOP HIMSELF TO BE ABLE TO MEET WITH THE NEEDS OF THE EVER CHANGING WORLD. The reason NOKIA 1100 is no longer relevant is simple: It failed to meet up the demands of the present world. That simply means if you fail to meet up with the demands of the ever changing world, you will be left behind in history.

Therefore, as Youths, we must LEARN THE ACTS OF REMAINING RELEVANT IN THE MIDST OF THE CHANGES THE WORLD UNDERGOES.

I wish you a fruitful weekend and do well to drop your comments on this article.
