INTRODUCTION:

One of the most used words in the English Language—especially among Teenagers and Youths— is the word LOVE. Yet it still happens to be one of the words that is least understood by so many. It’s has being a yardstick for immortality and one of the reasons why the word LOVE has being abused is because of our WRONG THINKING PATTERN.

We must be aware that there are two kingdom in existence— Kingdom of darkness and Kingdom of light—and every kingdom has a language which govern their communication, the way words are defined and understood in the kingdom. For example, let’s look at the word ZINC: In the kingdom (discipline) of carpentry, zinc is a material used for roofing a house while in the kingdom of chemistry, it is a element located in the d-block of the periodic table. From the above illustration, we would discover that the same word has different meaning and that is because EVERY KINGDOM HAS ITS OWN DEFINITION OF WORDS.

So also, the word LOVE has different meaning based on the Kingdom you are from and so let’s take a look at some concepts of LOVE based on the kingdom we are from.

1. LOVE IS A PERSONALITY: The Bible said GOD IS LOVE (1John 4:8) and that means LOVE is a person and every person has a PERSONALITY (attributes) and make him unique from every other person.

2. GOD EXPECTS US TO LOVE: (1John4:8) God expects that we show love because we carry his DNA.

3. GOD EXPECTS US TO REPLICATE HIS NATURE: (Eph. 5:1) If we know that God is Love and he expect us to replicate his nature, the big question then is WHAT ARE TE ATTRIBUTES OF LOVE? Reading through 1cor. 13:4-8, we will find so many attributes of love and these attributes are the very essence of God himself. I will pick a few that I would want to talk on:

1. LOVE THINKS NO EVIL

Evil can be defined as anything that is outside God’s will. LOVE THINKS NO EVIL. According to, Proverbs, 23:6, AS A MAN THINKS, SO HE IS.  A man is a function of his thought. So the thought of love is always pure and at every moment when impurity is found in love, it becomes LUST. The moment immorality penetrates into love, it is polluted.

2.  LOVE DOESN’T SEEK ITS OWN (1John4:9)

Love is selfless and that was demonstrated by God when he sent his only son to die for humanity

THE ORIGIN VALENTINE DAY

During the third century, an oppressive Roman Emperor called Emperor Claudius II had made it a capital punishment (death) to worship and serve Christ. He had decreed the Romans to serve and worship his gods, and deprived the young Roman soldiers of getting married. But an elderly Christian had stood his ground for his faith and had insisted on serving Jesus Christ and preaching the love of God to the young soldiers. This was considered treason against the government. He was arrested, jailed & sentenced to death. In the last weeks of his life in the prison, the jailer (prison commander) who observed that he was very learned and possessed very good Christian character, brought his blind daughter to him to be giving her lessons. He taught her about God and told her many Roman histories and stories from the Bible. He taught her the love of God. The blind girl got so used to the elderly Christian prisoner. On his last night he left a note for Julia, the blind girl, encouraging her to love God and serve Him. And in ending the note, he wrote: "From your Valentine". His death sentence was carried out the next day, February 14, 270 A.D. The name of this martyr was Valentinus, a man who died for standing for the Preaching of the Christ and teaching people about the love of God. So, for his love for God, he was regarded as 'Saint'.

From the above story, we saw a man who discovered his purpose and his purpose was the vehicle through which he showed and expressed God’ s love to his world, even at the expense of his life. That has being the trend for all great Men used by God—they discovered their purpose and that was the vehicle they used to express God’s love to the world.

THE BIG QUESTION IS WHAT IS YOUR PURPOSE? WHAT IS YOUR VEHICLE THROUGH WHICH YOU WANT TO SHOW GOD’S LOVE TO THE WORLD?
