CELEBRATING A GREAT ICON: OJY

        As I sit down somewhere not too far from Osubi Airport, certainly not a stone throw but  probably a ‘bullet’ throw, I cannot but smile, exposing my white teeth. As I think on “this” particular incident, I cannot hold myself from Laughing Out Loud (LOL). How I connected with “HIM” still amazes me till tomorrow. My meeting “HIM” has given me two track records in my speaking career this year. I have accessed “inner-room” information and even won an award courtesy of Foursquare Student Fellowship (Fellowship). That’s why I can’t stop thanking God that “HE” slept outside, because “HE” slept at LT1, I stepped into a relationship with “HIM”. I guess you still don’t understand the jargon I am saying but you will in few minutes from now, that’s if you will take your time to read this article till the end. I must warn: This is a really a lengthy article. I tried to make it short but I just couldn’t, I guess the spirit of “HIM” possessed me but  I will advise you read to the end because this story am about to share has taught me  lessons, few I will share at the end of this piece. So come with me on my time machine as I take you back in time.

CELEBRATING A SOLUTION: EMEKA NOBIS

Emeka Nobis came alive to my 'vocabulary' on the 19^th of January 2017. While I was going through the timeline of a friend on facebook, I saw one of his post and as I read, I was ‘wowed’ by his style of writing. He made reading exciting with the way he combines words.

YOU CAN STILL MAKE IT

My seat became too hot for me to sit as I stood up and watched my team play. I shouted the names of my players as I gesticulated telling them to hit the net of our opponent. I couldn't believe my team is being defeated six goals down. As I looked at the pitch, I drifted into the realm of thoughts as I flashed back to when the league started. As a coach, I gave them, my players, a well composed pep talk as they all gave their 'new league' resolutions. I was so impressed with their resolutions and we all planned to make the league the best by winning a trophy since we had always failed. The game started well for the first few minutes, which made me relax as I sipped my cold Chivita juice but soon I lost appetite as my opponent shouted the first goal victory. I re-adjusted as I watched the game more intently and before I could spell my name, the goals came rapidly as if my goal keeper was given a red card.

INTRODUCTION 

I am not a fan of hashtags and so, they never catch my attention but this one stole my attention. Ericardo has always brought out hastags and they have really trended and only God knows how he does it. This time, he cooked up “#WhoKnows” which ‘magneted’ my attention and unconsciously, I saw myself using it and it became fascinating as ‘KINGS’ like Supernatty(Graphic Designer), Talentino(Singer), Lawrence(Gospel Singer), Grant(Fashion Designer), Kutajay(Online Entrepreneur ), got into the bus, even though they didn’t know the destination. This hashtag I joined got me into this journey to deliver this article and this will be part of my “CLASSICAL WORKS” but who really inspired this article? It was Kutajay, even though he didn’t do it intentionally, through his article he published on Sunday.

MY STORY: BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND

INTRODUCTION

I am Charles Tambou popularly known as a Network Marketing Professional (NMPRO) Coach. I am from Ayakoromo Community, Burutu Local Government, Delta State. I came from a humble background. My dad was a Civil Servant while my Mum was managing her meagre business. The income from the salary and business was never enough for the family's upkeep. Life was a bit tough then. At times my mother would sell her personal clothing to take care of us.

JUST BEFORE THE TRANCE 

I woke as early as 12:00am, I battled with an ‘Demon’ called “Sleep” but I was greatly defeated but I refused given up and at around 12:30am, I won the fight and just as I rejoiced over the beautiful feat, I received a message from my Brother, Mr. Bawo Nelson, and Ogaga Ajina and then I was fully convinced it was not an illusion, today was 21th March 2017. The third message that flowed in led me into the dressing room of tears. It was a message from Mr. Stella Edoka Jeremiah-Okotie (MSEJO). Her message forced my heart to be warm despite the tears. Her first message was: I rejoice with you my Son, happy birthday.

          Just last month, Kee Collins dropped one of his singles titled “THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN'T DO”. The song was really amazing that when I heard it, I thought it was a song done by one of the world's finest gospel artists. The beat was awesome, the lyrics, undoubtedly divinely inspired. This week, I decided to run an interview with him and officially recommend his song to the general public.

1. DAVID HAD THE RIGHT THINKING PATTERN

Thinking pattern is the series of thought a man has about himself and environment which influences his behavior, actions, habits, and response to situations. King Solomon, one of the wisest men that lived chronicled that, “AS A MAN THINKS, SO HE IS… (PROV. 23:7). This explains that a man’s life is a function of his thought. You would notice that David saw the same GIANT the others saw but he responded differently which makes a conclusion that ITS NOT WHAT YOU SEE BUT HOW YOU SEE IT THAT COUNTS. David strong words in reply to Goliath’s threats are traceable to his right thinking pattern—which can turn problem to opportunities. 

Most people see PROBLEMS but others see OPPORTUNITIES. Ebola virus struck Africa and most of us saw it as a great Problem—that incited complaining and murmuring— but few individuals, mostly scientists, saw it as opportunity to provide solution to the problem, therefore, making the world a better place. For so many years, a particular Medical Problem existed— twins joined at the head region— but this problem created an opportunity for Ben Carson to provide solution which had made him a Global figure. Everybody complained about the problem of darkness but Thomas Edison used the problem as an opportunity to provide a solution we see today as electric light.  Everybody is complaining bitterly about the problems of our country—especially the problem of the education sector— that has limited our progress but complaining has not solved the problem and would not solve it. Being quite and pretending not to see the problem won’t also solve the problem. Who are the Davids who would rise up with right thinking pattern to FACE, FIGHT AND FIZZLE OUT THE GIANTS. The right thinking pattern is the first step— and not the only step— on our journey to bring down the Giants and bring home the victory. We claim to be using the western system of education but the average Nigerian student cannot compete effectively and efficiently with an average American student. The rate of examination malpractice is so high that even a student who has “all A’s” in his WASC or NECO cannot be trusted because the schools—both the public and private— give answers to their students in the examination hall and this has led to a colossal collapse of every sector of the country’s economy since we cannot produce qualified students into the labor market.

It was so strong that It erupted  a very strong headache. “What’s wrong?” I thought, but I seem not to know so I quickly got into TIME MACHINE to do a short research why I felt a blow on my mind. As I turned on my supercomputer and waited for it to come up, a beam of light from a section of the screen narrowed into my eyes for about thirty seconds. After this incident that almost stole my sight, I meticulously searched for what produced the light and I found it was a date, 10^TH FEBRUARY. Without being told, I knew that this date was historic. “Was this why I felt a strong blow on my mind late yesterday?” I asked myself as I seriously got busy doing a deep search online. Suddenly, A Date stood confidently on screen vibrating and I quickly clicked it and my time machine moved with great velocity as it took my backward into the 1960’s …
